Description You are buying one generous packet containing 100+ fresh skirret seeds (Sium sisarum) – the forgotten medieval root vegetable that’s making a huge comeback among gourmet gardeners and homesteaders.

Why grow skirret?
    • Sweet, oyster-like flavor with a crisp, juicy texture (think water-chestnut meets parsnip)
    • Extremely cold-hardy perennial – once established, it returns every year with zero replanting
    • Harvest from late fall through early spring
    • Pest-resistant and deer usually leave it alone
    • Grows well in heavy clay or rocky soil where carrots struggle
    •
Seed details
    • Harvested summer 2025 from my certified-clean organic plot in Bonner County, Idaho
    • Germination tested November 2025 → 92%+
    • Packet contains at least 100 seeds (most packets 120–150) – plenty to start a 20–30 ft row or share with friends
Growing info (included on printed insert)
    • You can direct sow in early spring or fall (skirret loves cold stratification)
    • We get best germination by first cold stratification, then planting indoors under lights in high quality seed starting soil.  A seed heating mat helps. Plant out in spring after all danger of frost is past.
    • Skirret is slow sprouting, can take up to 6-9 weeks to fully sprout.
    • 12–18″ spacing, ¼″ deep
    • First harvestable roots in 6–8 months; full perennial bed by year 2
    • Plants reach 3–4 ft tall with pretty white umbel flowers (great pollinator plant)
Shipping
    • Ships via USPS First Class with tracking (1–4 business days)
    • Packed in a moisture-proof, resealable kraft pouch with planting instructions
    • Shipped from Sandpoint, Idaho 83864 within 48 hours of payment
